STEAM Hub Reaches 1000 Checkouts of Materials
Congratulations to Loren Shaw at Glide High School for checking out a set of our Class VR systems. His order was number 1000!! Over a six year period, this translates to almost a checkout every other day! We continue to expand and refine our lending library which is one of the largest in the state of Oregon. If you’ve used it previously, you realize it’s pretty easy and for any organization that has the Douglas County ESD on their route, items are delivered right to you.
New Products and Product Updates; More VRs!!
We continue to add new items to our lending library and are happy to assist you with any instructional ideas in using them. Jeff has gone to several schools to meet with teachers and/or do model lessons with classes. The Class VRs were so popular that we’ve added two more sets (they come in sets of eight pairs of goggles).
Additionally, “Math Marks the Spot” and “Algebra Blocks” (Jeff’s own creation) are now available for checkout. We also have an army of iRoot Robots (90+) which are incredibly flexible in providing students with coding experiences from picture coding to scratch to line coding.
New STEAM Hub Video Released on Facebook
Oregon STEM has recently released and posted videos from STEAM/STEM Hubs throughout the state of Oregon (there are 13 in total). The Umpqua Valley STEAM Hub is the most recent of these. You can really see the passion in the faces of our staff and hear the excitement of what they do. We are always open to new ideas and ways to serve you.
More than Just a Lending Library
In addition to hundreds of items for checkout, the STEAM Hub also provides professional development, model lessons (at right, Jeff working with Hucrest third graders) and hosting/assisting family events (STEAM Nights, Library events throughout the county). Please let us know how we can assist you.
